You might not expect to find a shopping mall as a place of interest in the U.K, but in Ghana it is a place of interest since most shops are usually quite small and limited.
To find several smart shops together under one roof each having different goods for sale is still quite uncommon in Ghana.
The Accra mall is located at Tetteh Quarshie roundabout not far from Accra International Airport and was opened only last year in 2008 by the ex-president of Ghana John Kuffuor

Compared to the shops in the locality of Spintex road its quite ingressive, being modern in design, clean smart and a good number and range of different shops, open 7 days a week.
In the mall the shops include:
Health & Beauty
18 fashion Shops
3 Mobile communication Shops
Large Book Shop
Bureau du Change
In addition to the above there is an open style internet cafe with about 18 terminals, ,a cinema and six restaurants.

The Mall also has a large food shop called "Shoprite " One worry with kids that are English or half Ghanaian with British tastes is when you take them away for more than 10 days, what are they going to eat?
Do you ship a lorry load of Heinz or struggle with hand luggage and risk excess?
Even for myself on every trip to Ghana I have taken packs of filter coffee, filter papers and my trusty plastic coffee filter paper holding funnel.
This is because i like my coffee and on previous trips the only coffee available was instant.
Never again though now that I have seen Shoprite; i found about ten types of fresh ground coffee in the store, also items that might not have expected to find such as Italian Parmesan cheese. For the kids there was Pizza, French yoghurt ,pasta in tins ,baked beans etc just like back in the U.K .
View of tills inside Shoprite gives indication of shop size
The store is about the size of any new large ASDA or Sainsbury's in the U.K. and stocks a range of goods comparable to the U.K or Europe.
One welcome find was fresh pasteurized milk since the norm in Ghana is to drink Instant coffee or tea with evaporated milk. Also ready to roast pre packed chickens. Useful none food items included mosquito repellant that actually worked.
